Pretty phenomenal tacos and burritos. I'm seriously amazed at how simple the food is and yet each bite delivers a dynamic range of flavors. Their secret sauce is their slaw which has the perfect amount of dressing which keeps the experience fresh and juicy. Great quality ingredients, I've never left this place unhappy.

We stumbled upon this heavenly 5 star restaurant on Accident and found out they have some of the BEST food. Always get the Cajun fries and ALWAYS get the aioli sauce for the fries. They have something for everyone. 10/10 Best place to get a quick bite in Honolulu.

Amazing food, best we had in this trip so far. We like little local restaurants and this was just perfect we found it by chance when we were walking back to our hotel from our Diamond Head hike. I had the mixed plate and my husband had the chicken burrito and spicy fries and everything was delicious perfection. Atmosphere is very simple and unique. Highly recommended.

Great, locally-owned taco joint at the foot of Diamond Head and short walk from Waikiki. Tacos are always on-point. It is a bit cramped inside, so you have to scrap for a seat and shouldn't plan to linger. Tip of the hat for them offering a restroom.

Best fish tacos, hands down!! Went to a couple places on Oahu, including the North Shore, while on vacation and this is the only place i went back to multiple times. Fish tacos are killer, and the Slaw and Mac sides are also delish.

My favorite taco joint on the island by far. Get their tuna mac and fish taco plate. Also try the sauces. The mac pesto was astounding, as is their "taco sauce." Small, humble location with awesome taste.

Best fish tacos I think I've ever had!! The tuna mac salad wasn't bad, but I prefer my mac salad with a little more mayo so I'll probably get the fries next time. We also got the quesadilla and it was also tasty.

Really good food here, and also important for me and my family we were able to find free street parking. The prices were decent and food was really good! Seating was a little bit scarce but we were able to get the last table. The employees were extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back!

Best tacos and coleslaw I've had in my life! The chicken, fish, and shrimp tacos are all incredible and cooked to perfection. The chicken is tender, the fish is flaky, the slaw they put on top has a great crunch and is light so it doesn't take away from the rest of the flavors in the taco. I don't know what sauce they put on the tacos but it's delicious. $2.75 Taco Tuesdays. Get there early or deal with the huge line!

Tasty, fresh, delicious food! Reasonable Price! Awesome staff 😊. We walk 2 kilometers everyday from our Hotel to have our dinner here. We Love their Ono's (Taco, Burrito, Burger, Plate with Pesto sauce ). Their home made brownies and sweets are also great! We wished to have a restaurant like this in Vancouver, BC.

Great spot for a lot of good Hawaiian inspired food for a good price. I ordered the mix plate and it was all very good and cost $16. This was one of the more expensive items. The tortilla for the taco was very nice and slightly crispy.

Fantastic fish tacos. Generous servings of fresh grilled fish with a tangy aioli sauce and light airy slaw. I had been previously on half price Taco Tuesday which was great but I think the options were a bit smaller then. I couldn't finish my three tacos this time! Very casual, so not really a date night kind of place but the food can't be best!

All the surf vibe feel one would want from a food place in Oahu. Friendly staff and food served on paper plates. Some of the best grilled meat options you'll find on island. From simple grilled fish with garlic butter marinade on a bed of rice and slaw to hefty chicken burritos this place is the perfect spot for an after surf meal on the south side.

Since I discovered this place a number of years ago it's my # 1 stop on my way home in the evening... cycling through the menu keeps the variety fresh! Simple/ delicious & as healthy as you want to make it.. Cheers!

Just the right size of burrito. And the Cajun ono burrito was delicious. Also loved the Cajun fries. Wish they were crispier but not enough to go down to 4 stars. Happy & friendly. Very casual atmosphere.

If you're looking for excellent fish tacos (and maybe a bit more) this is your place. If you like casual...Small, but hopping, spot away from the crazy main strip of Waikiki (so you can walk off your lunch). VERY casual, quite small, but worth the wait (and the walk).

Tacos tacos tacos. I wish I could eat more than just two or three. The kalbi tacos are great. Tender and juicy with flavor galore. The chicken and fish are probably close seconds. It's a popular place so don't be surprised if you see a pile of people out front. It's worth the wait. The service is prompt and friendly. Never a bad experience here.

It's a little out of the way and a whole in the wall type of joint but the food is AMAZING!!!! We loved it so much we came back again. The chips and salsa are a must get. The chips come out fresh and warm. This will be must when we come back again.

Surprisingly awesome! The gal behind the front counter took our order and was very friendly. My wife got a burger and I got the garlic shrimp plate. We also split an order of the Cajun fries. Everything tasted so good! They even had their own special sauce to dip the fries in. We got the huge size but could have probably done with the large for the fries. One dipping sauce wasn't enough. It was a fun environment and with great food in Hawaii you can't beat that.

We used to come here when we lived in the area. The last time we came, the setup was completely different. The good news is that the fish tacos are just as I remembered them to be, which is damn awesome. The better news is that their menu looked bigger and better, and their aioli that was given to us for our fries was incredible. South Shore Grill is one place that my wife and I mention when we reminisce about the days living in town. The staff is just as great as before. Love this place...

Been on the island for a year and in my opinion, best burger I had yet. Family enjoyed the small restaurant atmosphere and my kiddo enjoyed drawing on the wall near the front while we ordered and waited. Wifey had her chicken and fish tacos and she enjoyed them both immensely. The aoli was really good as a dipping/spread for your food. You’ll have to look it up for yourself, but trust that it is great! Definitely a reason to return to the area.

Delicious fish tacos! Some of the best! I enjoyed the chicken club salad with macadamia nut pesto. Great local take on dishes! They serve a great variety of burgers, burritos, sandwiches, and salads. Everything looked delicious. The restaurant has a cool surf decor and it's closed on Sunday mornings for church. They have a couple little kids helping around the restaurant who help out. They're adorable! Much respect for family owned business!

Cajun Fries and garlic fries was good. Same thing, both had too much seasoning. But still good.Looking for a good spot near Waikiki came across this one, didn't miss really enjoyed our late night dinner went around 8pm there was a small line that moved up pretty fast the little in the cashier was great she knew what she was doing. The food was tasty and fresh. Definitely recommend while in Waikiki or around.

I got the fish taco for $4.50 and it is a very nice, overflowing taco. But the best part, it was absolutely delicious & extremely tasty. My other got the Cajun chicken burrito for $9.95 and all he could say is yum, yum, yum. Was recommended to this place by the Banan Food Truck worker and it did not disappoint. Will certainly be back to this little eating place gem!!

Really great fish tacos, they're huge and full of fresh Ono. I had the 2 tacos plate, it comes with rice, Mac salad and coleslaw. Their Mac salad and the slaw were also way above average. It's so much food I saved half for dinner! Great place not far from the beaches along Diamondhead.

One of my favorite taco places. Definitely not an "authentic" Mexican taco, but if Hawai'i had a version of a taco, it would be there fish taco. The chicken is my favorite. Light and cheap. Go on taco Tuesday with friends. BYOB. Go earlier, because the line and wait can get long. Highly rec.

Really amazing food. We were there on a rainy day and there was no line at all. The hot sauce at their condiment bar was phenomenal. It went great with the fish tacos. My friend had the shrimp burrito and loved it. Very big portions!

This place is fantastic and I don't say that often. Ono fish tacos might actually be as advertised: "best fish tacos in Honolulu." The tuna mac is the go-to side. Great spot after hiking diamond head. Go get it! You won't be disappointed.

This place is a local gem. The food and service are above and beyond what you find down at the beach. Do yourself a favor and take the trip away from the hotbed of over priced low quality resort area restaurants and get a meal that you will truly enjoy.

Tacos are basically perfect. From the tortilla to the slaw, then you drip on some hot sauce (like a buffalo wings flavor). I recommend the chicken, but in order, shrimp, ono, kalbi, then veggie are all good.

I love that the owner still works at the restaurant, and his daughter can even be seen on her little ladder running the register. Food is amazing, my favorite and recommendation is the fish tacos and an order of cajun fries with their special aoli sauce. superb.

Literally everything I've ever eaten from this place is pure gold. I started out with the Ono Burrito and for a while never wanted to order anything else because I was worried it wouldn't live up to the deliciousness. Eventually I ventured out to other items (shrimp, kal-bi, tuna mac, etc) and DAMN was I proven wrong. You truly can't go wrong here. I could eat here every day and never get sick of it.

Honestly top 3 best fish tacos I've had! Anything here with Cajun seasoning is also to die for!Inside the restaurant is simple and has a great beach vibe. Taco Tuesdays usually have a discount on the taco price. But this does vary from time to time.

Great little food stop near Diamond Head! Quick service and such great tasting food! I was really impressed, it was exactly what I was looking for after spending time at Diamond Head crater. I had the two plate Cajun shrimp taco platter. Very tasty! And you get so much food! The inside is very small, I went when it wasnt crowded but can see how some may find it hard to get a place to sit. It is easy though to take your food to the nearest park or beach. Definitely a place I would stop at again.

This place is amazing. One of my must go to every time I come to Oahu. Their food is so fresh, so simple, and so delicious. They’re known for their tacos, and they’re tacos are in fact amazing. But most everything else on their menu is dynamite!I’ve never had to wait for more that 15 minutes even during very busy lunch times. Bring your family, friends, but more importantly, bring an empty stomach! You won’t be disappointed.

Super hungry when we got there. I chose the grilled chicken box. The salad coming with it was decent, the mac and cheese very tasty and the chicken well seasoned. Would give 4.5 if I could because the chicken was a bit overdone, but it was too good for a 4.

Just got the Cajun Ono plate, so good! The fish was cooked perfectly, the seasoning had great flavor (got the sesame sauce), and the sides were light but flavorful. Cannot dine in, but easy side Street parking. I may go back before I leave!

Pricing for this place is quite good especially once you try the food. I had the shrimp burrito and it was frickin bomb! The slaw was perfect. It was not full of mayo and was nice and shredded. The Cajun seasoning added great flavor to the grilled shrimp. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Service was quick and the girl running the register was helpful and friendly. We will secondly be back again to explore more of the menu. We got our food to go so I cannot speak to the inside.

Ordered the fish tacos... full and meaty, delicious! Surprised that they didn't include lime slices but didn't miss them at all! Also tried the garlic fries... literally as much garlic as fries, figured I ate at least one head (not one clove!) of garlic. I thought my b.o. would be affected the next day...but gratefully no 😁! No place to sit and eat... just a "hole in the wall", don't miss it!

Great place away from the crowds of Waikiki. I go for Taco Tuesday - unbelievable fish taco (or chicken) deal, and so so good. Spicy fries are also great 👍 And their thumbprint peanut butter homemade cookies for less than $1 each?!? I mean come on. This place is SO GOOD. Definitely worth a stop. Be prepared to wait if you go on Tuesday tho because they get really busy!

February 2022: We stopped here on our last night in Oahu and I really wish we would have gone sooner so we could have had it more than once! We were there at peak dinner time, so the line was a little long, but so worth the wait! It's a take-out-only place, so plan a spot close by to eat it. I had the shrimp taco plate and my partner had the Ono fish burrito. Portions and prices were great!

Had been heading to diamond head grill but walked past this joint and decided to give it a spin. Friendly crew and great lunch, went back to order seconds. I asked the friendly guy what was a typical Hawaiian item on their menu and he said hamburger steak, so I ordered that. It was pretty good especially the fried onions. The hamburger patty was beautifully cooked. For me, a little more coleslaw would have been great but all in all it was a pleasant lunch.

Our first time in Oahu and stopped by this wonderful place on our way to Diamond Head for lunch. Definitely felt like this was the place that the locals went to as the folks working there seemed to know the customers as regulars. We, a family of four had four different lunch plates, drinks, and even grabbed a couple of desserts. All I can say is...amazing!! Traditional, authentic, reasonably priced and outstanding service....just what I wanted on a random day in Oahu, not fancy but PERFECT!!!

Convenient and delicious place to get takeout.Love the fish tacos and fish burrito. It’s not authentic Mexican but it’s Hawaiian fusion style (has coleslaw) which I like! I also have gotten the veggie burrito which is pesto based (cheaper than the fish burrito but still tasty).

The best burritos you’ll ever have, honestly. Tried 4 different ones between my husband and I and loved every one. We came here now for the second time on this trip, even drove an hour out of our way the second time to get it… so worth it. Definitely hitting it one last time before we leave, maybe two 😋

We found this taco shop via a recommendation. It took about 15 minutes to get our food which meant they were cooking the food from scratch. The food came out hot & smelling delicious! The taco plate is a full meal. Very large portion servings. Garlic fries are highly recommended. They have a fountain drink machine with ice if you drink the stuff. A few places to sit inside. Kinda dark. Place to doodle with chalk on the walls while you wait. Tasty salsa & other condiments available.

Partner and I stayed in Waikiki for a week and came here twice cause of how good it was! Both times we had it after walking Diamondhead and it was what we needed. The tuna Mac and slaw are super fresh and delicious. I got the Oho salad and plate and both were delicious. Partner loved the tacos. Prices are very reasonable as well. Staff friendly!

One of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had the food was off the charts, staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to choosing what we wanted. Definitely worth making your way down to south shore grill you won’t regret it! Got 2 fish tacos, 2 shrimp tacos, and 2 Cajun chicken tacos, and chips and salsa that were WAAAYYYY better than expected!

This was a great find after leaving Waikiki fairly late tonight. The food was incredible and the service was fast! Prices were reasonable, especially in comparison to other restaurants in the area! The BBQ chicken thighs were delicious and my husband loved the fish tacos! Great large size kids meals as well!

This place is great. My only suggestion would be to hire someone to make fresh tortillas. This was a taco with A+ filling on an F grade stale walmart tortilla. Still an amazing place so I'm giving 5 stars. Living in AZ, I'm spoiled with fresh handmade tortillas. That would really pair well with these already great insides.

Super sweet crew, and insanely tasty tacos/burritos!We got some tacos while we were there, and took burritos with us to Diamond Head. Highly recommend the BBQ chicken thighs, and the kal-bi beef. The fish tacos are also very good, but the flavor was more punchy with the chicken and beef.Their cookies are also delicious, def worth a wait if you see a bit of a line. We lucked out both time we went, but it can fill up fast!

This is a great food stop. All the burritos are great, but my favorite is the shrimp. The garlic butter fries are a must. The Cajun fries are good, if you like a sweet twang with your spice. I usually bought more than one burrito per trip; one for right now, and another for later. I highly encourage you to order ahead, they can get very busy and you may have to wait a bit (only reason for 4-stars). The staff are very friendly, and don't mind taking the time to explain the menu if you're trying something for the first time. Can't wait for my next Hawaii trip, and another South Shore Grill burrito.

We drove past this place while heading to the Diamond Head Crater. I had the Grilled Ono Fish plate with pesto and it was delicious. The lemon cake is also very good. They also had Kefir water which tastes similar to kombucha if you like that sort of drinks.

Found this little gem by doing a google search. It did not disappoint. There were two of us and we both got the 2 Ono fish taco plate. We each got one, that was a LOT of food! One order would have been for the two of us. There tacos were great, coleslaw had a different taste, but I’m not from Hawaii so maybe they make it different here. And the fries were done just right. And you have to get a macadamia nut cookie…. So good.As an FYI, seating is limited and tight, so don’t have big expectations for that.

I gave an overall 5 stars because the staff is really great.We had Surf and Turf, plus a Cajun shrimpTaco, and lemon jello cake. The kalbi was delicious. Bbq chicken was very good. The slaw, tacos and rice were rather bland. Fortunately there was salsa and hot sauce (+ salt) to pep it up. The lemon jello cake was recommended and did not disappoint. I do wonder what the pumpkin crunch tasted like! The decor could be a bit less spare!

This was such a good find for my husband and I that we came twice while on our week long vacation and would have came more if we didn’t care about trying new places. It’s one of the hole in the wall restaurants that you always remember! We both really enjoyed the fish tacos. It feels like eating a comforting home cooked meal. Definitely recommend!

We had a magnificent experience with South Shore Grill. I had the Ono plate lunch with garlic and it was fantastic. Fish was perfect, the Mac salad was unique. My wife had the spicy garlic shrimp plate which was also very very good. Then not pictured was the bbq chicken quesadilla which you must order. It was sooooo good and the chipotle sauce with it is to die for. It was so good we stopped in two days after this meal just for the quesadilla. If I only had one day on the island this would be one of my meals!

This was a great experience.We were visiting Hawaii over the past week and while we were doing the typical tourist activities, we asked about some good "local eateries". South Shore Grill was recommended and it happened to be quite close from our stay.We made our way to the restaurant and we were glad we did.Food was excellent and the price was very reasonable. It's a smallish place but we were taking ours to go anyway.We ordered some fish tacos (Taco Tuesday!) and some plates on the menu. They were all very tasty and fresh.I would definitely recommend this place.

We loved the atmosphere. You know a place is good when there is a line out the door to order and it's hard to find a table. We had to wait a bit to order and get our food but it was worth it. The fish tacos were delicious and so was the tuna mac salad. The fries were not good which was sad and the table and floor underneath us was a bit dirty so that's the reason for the 4 stars.

Great atmosphere. Fish taco was delicious as was the Kalbi beef taco. Their slaw was kind of like a leafy cabbage slaw which was a little different but not bad. A bit too much aioli on everything, didn't really let the fish shine and it was definitely tasty. I recommend though.

Great Taco Tuesday for fish or chicken for $2.75! Friendly and patient staff. Even though there was a very long line to order, their staff took time to help and explain menu items and help customers with certain food allergies. The food was very good, fresh and tasty! It’s worth the wait. They have a self serve station for sauces and they have a staff member who comes out to clean the area and explain the sauces. Great selection and prices are affordable. I took off one star because there wasn’t enough staff to clean off the tables. Tip: after ordering food or if coming with another person, one of you would want to grab a table.

We discovered South Shore Grill on our return hike from Diamond Head Crater, finding a diverse menu of tacos and burritos designed to please all palates. The fish tacos were excellent, as well as the steak burritos. Great place to stop for a quick bite after burning some calories on the Diamond Head Crater hiking trail.

I didn't take any photos, but I definitely will be back! Ordered the fish taco and a shrimp taco. They have a two taco combo, but I think it has to be the same tacos. The shrimp is small, but they. They add a lot of lettuce and stuff, so they are pretty substantial. I would say the fish taco was better out of the two because the fish was in larger chunks, do it doesn't get lost. They have plate lunches, burgers, and a pretty extensive menu, so even for picky eaters you will definitely find something to please your appetite

Super understated nook, but amazing plates. I ordered the Kalbi, it was so well-marinated and tender. I would be remiss if I did not mention the sides-- the coleslaw was crisp and vinegar-y (heads up if you prefer mayo-based!) And the macaroni salad was AMAZING.Service and vibe was low-key but friendly.
